When Andy died you really didn't personally suffer to much because we didn't really know him. After now reading 13 books in this series I have come to know each character and feel what they feel. When one of their own officers die from a brutal murder you bet your going to feel it. I did. Other characters in the story announced they are leaving and it will be interesting to see where this all goes.

A good story, and a lot of changes and new and old threads. Kept me on my toes. I look forward to seeing where it leads.
JA Jance is one of my favorite authors. Her books are thoroughly engaging, well written, and fun. If you haven’t read her work, try them, you’ll like them.
Joanna steps off the page. Her determination and vulnerability merge to make such a believable charachter, that I laugh out loud and sometimes cry from the realness of her life stories. I think somehow she reflects the authers sensibilities and a few of my own. Thank you for such a great series, and Damage Control delivered, right on que.
Now Joanna is juggling a demanding job and a newborn. Thank the Lord for husband, Butch and daughter, Jenny As usual J.A. Jance has written a suspenseful story while incorporating normal family life accompanied by a demanding mother who has little to no interest in Joanna's career.
I have read almost every mystery she has written.
She tells fabulous stories and intertwines them beautifully, all without sex,cursing,and obscene language
I am over the other mystery writers who use sex and filthy language to tell their stories
One weekend in the dessert community brought torrential rains, a double suicide and the discovery of a dead body. Joanna Brady and her department have their hands full. The story shows a whole department working together to get a job done while they deal with personal and family problems. This is probably one of the strongest stories in the series.
A J.A.Jance novel is good at any time this is especially good. Joanna not only has her running battle with her mother that she doesn't understand, she now has some suspicions concerning relationships her late husband might have. She is also confronted with an event that could either be an accident, or a suicide pact, or murder. This leads to confrontations with two sisters who are daughters of these parents lost in the car disaster. They haven't talked to each other in years. It's Joanna's very difficult job of working it all out and getting husband off on his tour about his new book. There is constant action in a well written book that is typical of a Jance novel. ENJOY !.
